And better way is calling for help before attempting this so that help is coming because the tourniquet isn’t a solution, it’s a stopgap measure to buy time.

NOTE: There are risks if tourniquet isn’t tight enough, not to loosen the tourniquet – this way can’t send blood flow to the injury, it can cause damage. Leaving the tourniquet on too long is biggest risk. When using tourniquet, it should only be in use for two hours, no longer, Noting the time as best you can, write the time and make sure the people around you knows, remembering to be sure to tell and medical personnel when you applied the tourniquet. Using too long time can cause permanent injury.

Bandages are used to help stop non-life threatening bleeding, or to hold the wound packing in place. There is no bandage that does the job of a tourniquet.
